Biography
Finnian Millour approached his project of "Orpheus" as a personal challenge, having never used Actionscript before. To meet his challenge in force, he began acquiring the skills he would need to produce "Oprheus" in just a few short weeks. Millour's creative interests are far reaching and varied, including music, literature, film and video games. His work is motivated by visual and animated storytelling. Millour is now furthering his game design skills by working on independent and explorative game projects.

Mitchell Brien has been interested in dynamic storytelling for as long as he can remember. Brien's game development project has given him an opportunity to explore new modes to convey a story, while remaining connected to his passion for video games. Brien's background is in 2D and 3D animation and games design. He is interested in exploring how new mediums of digital interactivity can be used to stimulate and create unique, yet unifying, experiences for people. He is currently completing his honors year in digital media design.

Description
Orpheus is a game in which Orpheus' love, Eurydice has been taken by Hades into the underworld. Orpheus must travel, playing songs on his harp, down to save Eurydice. Orpheus can change the world around him, and charm all living beings from insects into gods to do his bidding. The player uses the number pad to play '7' notes, deciphering codes to overcome the obstacles in Orpheus' way.

Communication Objective
Orpheus was created for an independently led project over the course of a few weeks. The main goal was to produce an interesting game mechanic, and a working "demo" or prototype of the game, to be expanded on at a later date, post-studies. Often times games do not focus on coming up with different ways to play them. The intent was for Orpheus to stand out in both execution and production quality. The game is intended to be engaging to as wide of an audience as possible, while remaining challenging and fun.

Tools used
Adobe Flash was used for the programming and building and all assets were created using Flash, or Adobe Illustrator, and then imported to Flash. Design, planning and concept art was created either with pen and paper, or in Photoshop and Illustrator. Some audio was edited in Adobe Soundbooth.
